Creating A New Lane

“Excellence does not remain alone; it is sure to attract neighbors.”

One time accordion player, stilt walker and fire-eater, Guy Laliberte is now CEO of Cirque du Soleil. Created in 1984 by a group of street performers, Cirque’s productions have been seen by over fifty million people in ninety cities around the world. It is a multi billion-dollar industry. Cirque du Soleil has reinvented the circus landscape with innovation and quality. They have created their own lane.

Our mission with National Party Bands® is to create our own lane, as well, by providing our clients with national caliber entertainment for special events. We were the first in the market to bring innovative ideas and national award winning talent like Ronnie Garrett, and Jerry and Jason Freeman, on board as bandleaders. These guys have recorded and toured with artists like Elton John, Stevie Wonder, Earth Wind & Fire, Tyler Perry and many more. Ronnie Garrett has twenty-one gold records to his credit. Jerry and Jason were on this past summer’s sold-out world tour with Outkast, as well as performances on Saturday Night Live and The Letterman Show - They are the cream of the crop.

I admire Cirque du Soleil from the perspective that they created their own market. Now, there are copycats and imitators of their idea everywhere. In the past week, I have seen two new videos of bands that want to compete with us and do what we do. I’m flattered they want to get in the lane with us. However, I prefer the open road – looks like we now get to create a new lane.

This month, National Party Bands® will debut The Simply Irresistible® Super Show, featuring ten vocalists, eight horns, eight dancers and a killer band – 31 performers in all - for a three-hour, non-stop show. There is nothing like this in the country. (The video will be out soon.)

Don’t be afraid to create a new product or a new service. What new innovations can you bring to your business? How can you better serve your customers? When you become successful, others will follow you. That’s a good thing; it means you’re in a cool lane.

Drive safe,
