Seeing Clearly

As bandleader, my job is to manage the energy of the event. My goal is for the audience to have the time of their life. My resources are a massive song list, state –of-the-art production and some of the best musicians on the planet.

I have learned over the years that no two shows are exactly the same. Each event has it’s own energy. To make sure the event succeeds, I have to know what the energy is in the moment - as it’s happening. I can’t assume tonight’s show is going to be like the last show.

My ability to see clearly is paramount to a successful show. While we have developed an effective show that works all over the world, being able to see reality clearly, and make the right decision at the right time, can often be the difference in success or failure. When we’re on a show, there is no autopilot.

In our life, relationships and business it’s also important to see clearly. It can be a challenge to see those close to us, and new people we meet, as they are without assumptions.

This is understandable. If we think we already know, then we don’t have to think about it. It’s the lazy way out, and we come by it naturally.

Just as each show the band performs is unique, every relationship we have is unique. No two relationships are alike. When we rely on concepts and assumptions about how people are, or how  “It is”, we miss the beauty and uniqueness of what makes us who we are.

Rosalind Fritz has a great quote she shared in a recent workshop, “Each one of us is an endangered species.”

I encourage you to look freshly at your life and those around you. You never know. You might see something new or something beautiful.

Hope to “See you soon.”

“Seeing small is called clarity.”
